DR. RON SCHWAB, D.V.M.

VETERINARIAN/OWNER – In Practice since 1977 – Retired August 1, 2017

Dr. Ron graduated from MSU’s College of Veterinary Medicine in 1974. He started the current practice in June of 1978 as an ambulatory farm-call/house-call practice, moving into his first clinic in 1980 and into the current location in November of 2004. Dr. Ron enjoys his work because of the satisfaction he receives from helping animals recover from life-threatening injuries and/or illnesses and the close relationships he builds with their owners. He also is proud of the close personal relationships he has built with his numerous large-animal clients and the trust they instill in him to help them become as successful as possible. Dr. Ron is married to his wife, Jenny, and has three children – Jeff, Jon, and Abby – and 4 grandchildren – Andrew, Alex, Hailey and Carter. When not working he enjoys spending time with his grandchildren, gardening, and taking care of his animals. He has multiple pets including 6 dogs, 4 cats, peacocks, turkeys, and more chickens than he wants to count. Dr. Ron was the senior clinician/owner and played every role as veterinarian from consulting on almost any kind of farm animal to performing advanced orthopedic surgeries on dogs and cats. Dr. Ron officially retired on August 1, 2017 and he will be missed by all!


DR. JON SCHWAB, D.V.M.

VETERINARIAN/OWNER – In Practice Since 2002

Dr. Jon graduated from MSU’s College of Veterinary Medicine in 2002. His favorite areas of his job include interacting with owners and performing soft tissue and orthopedic surgery. Dr. Jon is married to Clara, and they have two children – Hailey and Carter. In his spare time he enjoys camping, hiking, woodworking and spending time with his family. His family has multiple pets including a Lab-mix named Maddie, a Beagle-mix named Chloe, a Golden Retriever named Stan, 4 cats – Bob, Billy, Gracie, and Pixie, a snake named Ruby, and fresh and saltwater aquariums filled with numerous fish. Dr. Jon’s role in the office is as owner and veterinarian, and is responsible for providing services to both large and small animals and occasionally reptiles.


DR. HANNAH MEIHLS D.V.M.

VETERINARIAN – In Practice since 2012

Dr. Hannah Meihls graduated from Michigan State University in May of 2012 with her doctorate degree. Her favorite part of her job is interacting with the people, pets, and livestock.  She has a special interest in caring for rabbits and other small mammals.  Dr. Hannah and her husband Donnie have a son named Caleb.  They also have a Golden Retriever named Sylvie, a cat named Louie, and some dairy beef steers.  In her spare time, Hannah enjoys camping, spending time with friends and family, gardening, and volunteering with 4-H and FFA.


DR. JENNIFER SMITH, D.V.M.

VETERINARIAN – In Practice since 2015

Dr. Jen Smith is originally from Livonia MI and joined the Arenac Bay Veterinary Services team in July, 2015. Dr. Smith graduated from the University of Findlay, Ohio in 2011 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Biology and Animal Science. She graduated from Michigan State University’s College of Veterinary Medicine in 2015 with her doctorate. Dr. Smith enjoys the diversity of mixed animal practice, and has a special interest in internal medicine. She currently lives in Kawkawlin with her fiancé, David, a Pit-mix named Dixie, and two cats named Gidget and Smokey. In her spare time, Dr. Smith enjoys visiting friends and family, travel, and hiking.


DR. LEAH GIRARD, D.V.M.

VETERINARIAN – In Practice since 2017

Dr. Leah Girard graduated from Michigan State University’s College of Veterinary Medicine May of 2017. Leah is originally from Canton, MI and currently lives in Pinconning, MI. She enjoys getting to spend time with patients and owners in and out of the office. Special interests include surgery, exotic companion animal and wildlife medicine. She has a German Short Hair Pointer named Captain, a poodle mix named Duke and a Russian tortoise named Torti. In her spare time, Dr. Leah enjoys kayaking, hiking, camping, traveling and trying new things. 


DANIELLE BEADLE-SMITH

VETERINARY TECHNICIAN

Danielle is originally form Sault Ste. Marie, MI where she started working in veterinary and shelter medicine.  She graduated from Bel Rea Institute of Animal Technology in Denver, CO in 2008, with a degree in veterinary technology.  She has worked in emergency and critical care and veterinary neurology both in Colorado and southeastern Michigan.  Danielle recently moved to Gladwin, MI and joined the team at Arenac Bay Veterinary Services in October, 2012.  She is excited to take this new step in her career.  She is looking forward to building relationships and facing new experiences and challanges that veterinary medicine has to offer.  When not at work, Danielle enjoys spending time with her daughter, family, and friends.  In her free time, she loves running with her dog, camping, snowboarding and any water activity.


BRITTANY ROBINSON

VETERINARY TECHNICIAN

Brittany graduated from Baker College of Flint in 2014, with a degree in Veterinary Technology. Brittany joined the Arenac Bay Veterinary Services team in August, 2014. Brittany likes the hands on technical skills and the one-on-one time she gets with the patients. Brittany likes to spend time with her friends and family and in her free time, enjoys kayaking, tubing, being outside, and playing her dog, Sven.


DIANE BLEHM

OFFICE MANAGER

Diane has been working for Arenac Bay Vet Services since 2006. Her favorite part about the job is helping clients and meeting new people. Diane has raised wildlife for the past 30 years including whitetail deer, fox, pheasants and many others. Currently, she owns pheasants, chickens, a Brittany Spaniel named Gomer, and a French Bulldog named Clyde. In her spare time, Diane enjoys being outdoors and spending time with her family. She is married to her husband, Mark, and has three children and six grandchildren, with two sets of twins.


TINA GAGE

RECEPTIONIST

Tina joined the Arenac Bay Veterinary Services team in July of 2015, after being a client for many years. Tina has a love for all animals and is enjoying getting to know the clients and patients of Arenac Bay Veterinary Services. Tina shares her home with her fiancé, Jeremey, a Berner/GSP mix named Heart, a Mountain Cur named Izzy, and three German Shorthair Pointers named Nellie, Cody, and Piper. Along with her five dogs, she also has four horses. In her free time, Tina enjoys being outdoors, riding her horses, playing with her dogs, fishing, gardening and giving riding lessons to kids.


BECKY COOK

VETERINARY ASSISTANT

Becky has been working for Arenac Bay Vet Services since 1999. She has been married to her husband, Steve, for 10 years. They enjoy having cookouts, going camping and being with friends and family. Becky’s favorite part about the job is working with the animals and everyone at the clinic. Becky spends time both in the clinic and out on farm calls. She has five Great Danes, Lance, Bronx, Sully, Belle, and Kodi.


SABRINA OSIER

VETERINARY ASSISTANT

Sabrina has been working for Arenac Bay Vet Services since 2006. Her favorite part about the job is seeing sick or hurt animals come in and walk out the door healthy and healed. She also enjoys interaction with the clients. When not working, Sabrina enjoys reading, camping and watching movies. Sabrina and her husband, Ben, have a daughter, Phoebe and son, Tobias.


JESSICA GOODMAN

VETERINARY ASSISTANT

Jessica has been working for Arenac Bay Vet Services since May, 2011. Her favorite part of the job is interacting with patients. Jessica has two cats named Halona and Rory, two dogs named Ayble, and Eclipse, and a horse.  Eclipse came to Arenac Bay Vet Services as a stray that had been hit by a car. Jessica spent many weeks nursing her back to health while her broken leg healed, and eventually adopted her.  In her spare time, Jessica enjoys going to speed shows, camping, playing softball, and spending time with her daughter, Sophia. 


PAIGE RAES

VETERINARY ASSISTANT

Paige has been working for Arenac Bay Vet Services since January, 2014. Paige graduated from SVSU in 2016 with a Bachelors of Science degree in Biology and Chemistry and is currently attending CMU for her MBA.  Paige has a Labradoodle named Emmett and three cats named Crofter, Annabelle, and Elsa.  In her spare time, Paige enjoys snowboarding, wakeboarding, and snuggling with her kitties. Paige’s favorite part of her job is working with our feline patients.


AMY TURNER

VETERINARY ASSISTANT

Amy has been working for Arenac Bay Vet Services since July, 2012. Amy is currently attending Pennfoster and looks forward to working as a LVT upon completing her degree. Her favorite part of the job is helping doctors with emergencies. Amy has many pets at home including horses, goats, dogs, and cats. In her spare time, Amy enjoys hunting, camping, riding horses, and spending time with her boyfriend, Dustin.


KELSEY GERE

VETERINARY ASSISTANT

Kelsey has been working for Arenac Bay Vet Services since November, 2017. Kelsey graduated from SVSU in 2016 with a degree in Biology and is currently working towards becoming a LVT. Kelsey’s favorite part of the job is interacting with patients and helping them to get better. In her spare time, Kelsey enjoys being outside and likes camping, snowboarding, and playing rugby.
