VETERINARIAN/OWNER – In Practice since 1977 – Retired August 1, 2017

Dr. Ron graduated from MSU’s College of Veterinary Medicine in 1974. He started the current practice in June of 1978 as an ambulatory farm-call/house-call practice, moving into his first clinic in 1980 and into the current location in November of 2004. Dr. Ron enjoys his work because of the satisfaction he receives from helping animals recover from life-threatening injuries and/or illnesses and the close relationships he builds with their owners. He also is proud of the close personal relationships he has built with his numerous large-animal clients and the trust they instill in him to help them become as successful as possible. Dr. Ron is married to his wife, Jenny, and has three children – Jeff, Jon, and Abby – and 4 grandchildren – Andrew, Alex, Hailey and Carter. When not working he enjoys spending time with his grandchildren, gardening, and taking care of his animals. He has multiple pets including 6 dogs, 4 cats, peacocks, turkeys, and more chickens than he wants to count. Dr. Ron was the senior clinician/owner and played every role as veterinarian from consulting on almost any kind of farm animal to performing advanced orthopedic surgeries on dogs and cats. Dr. Ron officially retired on August 1, 2017 and he will be missed by all!


VETERINARIAN/OWNER – In Practice Since 2002

Dr. Jon graduated from MSU’s College of Veterinary Medicine in 2002. His favorite areas of his job include interacting with owners and performing soft tissue and orthopedic surgery. Dr. Jon is married to Clara, and they have two children – Hailey and Carter. In his spare time he enjoys camping, hiking, golfing, woodworking and spending time with his family. He has multiple pets including a lab mix named Maddie, a beagle mix named Chloe, 2 cats – Azzy and Amber, a snake named Ruby, and fresh and saltwater aquariums filled with numerous fish. Dr. Jon’s role in the office is as a veterinarian, and is responsible for providing services to both large and small animals and occasionally reptiles.


VETERINARIAN – In Practice since 2012

Dr. Hannah Meihls graduated from Michigan State University in May of 2012 with her doctorate degree. Her favorite part of her job is interacting with the people, pets, and livestock.  She has a special interest in caring for rabbits and other small mammals.  In June of 2012, Hannah was married to her husband Donnie.  Dr. Hannah and Donnie currently have a collie mix named Ranger, a golden retriever named Sylvie, and many rabbits.  In her spare time, Hannah enjoys camping, spending time with friends and family, gardening, and volunteering with 4-H and FFA.


VETERINARIAN – In Practice since 2015

Dr. Jennifer Smith is originally from Livonia MI, a greater suburb of Detroit. Dr. Smith graduated from the University of Findlay, Ohio with a Bachelor of Science (BS) in 2011 and from Michigan State University with a Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM) in 2015. Dr. Smith enjoys the diversity of mixed animal practice, and has a special interest in internal medicine. She currently lives in Linwood with her lab mix named Dixie and two cats, Gidget and Smokey. In her spare time, Dr. Smith enjoys visiting friends and family, boating, camping, and hiking with her dog.



Danielle is originally form Sault Ste. Marie, MI where she started working in veterinary and shelter medicine.  She graduated from Bel Rea Institute of Animal Technology in Denver, CO in 2008, with a degree in veterinary technology.  She has worked in emergency and critical care and veterinary neurology both in Colorado and southeastern Michigan.  Danielle recently moved to Gladwin, MI and joined the team at Arenac Bay Veterinary Services in October, 2012.  She is excited to take this new step in her career.  She is looking forward to building relationships and facing new experiences and challanges that veterinary medicine has to offer.  When not at work, Danielle enjoys spending time with her daughter, family, and friends.  In her free time, she loves running with her dog, camping, snowboarding and any water activity.



Brittany is a graduate from Baker College of Flint in 2014, with a degree in Veterinary Technology. She started working at ABVS in August 2014. She is secured to grow and learn in the veterinary field. Britney, likes the hands on technical skills and the one-on-one time she gets with the patients. Out of work she likes to spend with her friends and family. In her free time she enjoys kayaking, tubing, being outside, weight lifting and playing her dog, Sven



Diane has worked at Arenac Bay Vet Servies since 2006. Her favorite part about the job is helping the clients and meeting new people. Diane has raised wildlife for the past 30 years including whitetail deer, fox , pheasants and many others. Currently she owns pheasants, chickens, a Brittany Spaniel named Gomer, and a French Bulldog named Clyde. In her spare time she enjoys being outdoors and spending time with her family. She is married to her husband Mark and has three children and six grandchildren with two sets of twins.



Tina started working at Arenac Bay Veterinary Services in July of 2015 after being a client for many years. Tina has a love for all animals and is enjoying getting to know the clients and patients of ABVS. She shares her home with a Bernese Mountain Dog, Chumlee; 4 German Shorthair Pointers, Ruger, Nellie, Cody & Piper; a Berner/GSP mix, Heart and a Mountain Cur, Izzy. Along with her 7 dogs she has 4 horses. In her free time she enjoys being outdoors, riding her horses, playing with her dogs, fishing, gardening and giving riding lessons to kids.



Becky has worked at the clinic since 1999. She has been married to her husband Steve for 10 years. They enjoy having cookouts, going camping and being with friends and family. Becky’s favorite part about the job is working with the animals and working with everyone at the clinic. Becky spends time both in the clinic and out on farm calls. She has three Great Danes, Lance, Bronx, and Sully.



Sabrina has worked at Arenac Bay Vet Services since 2006.  Her favorite part about the job is seeing sick or hurt animals come in and walk out the door healthy and healed. She also enjoys interaction with the clients. When not working, Sabrina enjoys reading, camping and watching movies. Sabrina and her fiance Ben have a daughter, Phoebe and son, Tobias.



Jessica has worked at the clinic since May, 2011.  Jessica has three dogs named  Lucy, Able, and Eclipse.  Eclipse came to Arenac Bay Vet Services as a stray that had been hit by a car.  Jessica spent many weeks nursing her back to health while her broken leg healed, and eventually adopted her.  She also has a cat, Taz..  She enjoys barrel racing, going to speed shows, and playing softball.  Her favorite part of her job is interacting with the animals and clients that come into the office.



Paige has been working at ABVS since January, 2014.  She is currently attending SVSU to earn her bachelors degree in biology and chemistry and plans to attend veterinary school in the future.  Paige has a Labradoodle named Emmett and three cats named Crofter, Annebelle, and Elsa.  In her spare time, she enjoys snowboarding, wakeboarding, and snuggling with her kitties.  As a self-proclaimed cat fanatic, Paige’s favorite part of her job is working with our feline patients.
